Description

A rare find, overlooking the Ocean in Kennebunkport Maine. Rock Ledge is one of the few remaining homes still standing by noted architect William Emerson. Built in 1887, it has been brought up to date to meet today’s needs without sacrificing its authenticity. The only home in the area with a full wrap around porch! Perfect for family meals and entertaining, tricycle riding by toddlers, all while enjoying the beautiful and ever changing setting. Across the street is Pebble Beach where generation of families have collected sea glass, rocks for painting or rocks for a rock skipping contest. Guests have been known to collect their own mussels at low tide, go running and then diving into the ocean to cool off, go kayaking or fishing off the end of the cove. A short walk to St Ann’s Church and its magnificent lawn open to the public and kite flying, or a walk to admire Walker’s Point home of two presidents. On the same road is the opportunity to walk to the Cape Arundel Inn for a gourmet dinner. The town of Kennebunkport is less than a mile down the road with restaurants and shops along the way. All can be accessed on foot or bicycles available in the garage…or walk to the Colony Hotel and take the trolley to town and then home!

This property is fantastic! The views are mesmerizing. The house has plenty of room and is well stocked. It does not have AC. Also, this is very hard to understand, bikes, Kayaks and beach chair are in plain sight in the garage but we were told they could not be used for "insurance and liability" reasons? If they don't want renters to use some of their things, they should be put away, out of sight. That was only a small aggravation. The property is classic and we all were delighted to have stayed there.

Girls weekend at Rock Ledge for my 60th was as advertised and more. The drive from the Port, along Ocean Avenue, to the house was amazing. The view from the large wrap around porch was breathtaking! Sunsets are beyond description. Listing was accurate regarding layout, amenities etc. Jamie & Todd provided excellent customer service, very responsive to my calls & texts if I had questions. The property lists 7 bedrooms, but in reality there are 8. On the 3rd floor is a room with 4 twin beds which is not counted as a room (no closet) but for vacation purposes it serves as a room with it's own half bath. There is one TV in the entire house and a rather small one at that. We were fortunate with outstanding weather while we were there, other than having the Patriots game on, the TV was not used. Most of our meals were cooked in the house, we did order out for pizza one night. Go local and call Atlantic Pizza, very very good!!
